Trees

A while ago, I finally finished poring through the beautiful book by Thomas Pakenham - The Remarkable World of Trees. Call me a tree hugger if you will, but I've always been fascinated by trees and really enjoyed the book.

Today while my train was approaching my hometown, I looked around at the stark reality that the harshness of winter has exposed. Yeah, my hometown has a ton of trees that burst though the horizon in all their glory when in full bloom, but today it seemed to me that they were just covering up the fact that my small town is yet just another urban jungle.

Of course, I love the country. When you're in the country in the winter, the harshness only opens up new vistas that you hadn't seen before, and they are amazing.

I really want to move to the country. Sadly, it's not time, and I'm still trying to find a house with enough house and property and maybe a tree or two at the right price. You know, more bang for the buck with hopefully some future value. It's rather discouraging, though I approach it with great enthusiasm.

Hope springs eternal ya know.
