2007-01-18 - 6:11 p.m. Yesterday, when the woman who works for my boss is CO told me that her daughter was having an induced birth tomorrow I found myself feeling all sentimental and weepy. Today, when I was reading a NYTimes article about the reunion of the author Ian McEwan and the brother his mother gave up for adoption because he was conceived when she had an affair while her husband was away at war, then the husband was killed in battle and she ended up marrying the affair man and went on to birth Ian, I was drawn into the story. Then I read this quote by Ian’s brother: “I’ve read all his books now, but whether he’s a road sweeper or an author is immaterial.” Mr. Sharp said, according to several British newspaper accounts. “He’s just my brother to me.” Cue my weepiness Tomorrow, who knows? Call the hormone police!
